Testimonials

I just wanted to contact you to express how appreciative we are of the wonderful support,
clear guidance, and sensible advice we have received from the Literacy hub, delivered by
Yvonne.
There is no doubt, Yvonne is a highly knowledgeable individual. She is realistic, solution
focused and rigorous in the high expectations she sets. Yvonne has made a huge difference
to the reading and phonics offer at Allscott Meads Primary, thank you. The staff cannot speak
highly enough of the contribution Yvonne continues to make, and we have seen our
standards rise sharply because of her input.
I would be delighted if you would be kind enough to pass our gratitude on to Yvonne.
However, I just wanted to make you aware of the fantastic difference she has made to
practice. Yvonne is clearly a great asset to the Literacy Hub, and we very much look
forward to seeing her again in April.
Thank you again for all the help and support you and the Literacy Hub provide.
Kirsty Parkinson, Headteacher, Allscott Meads)
Update: The Reading Leader is now training with St John Bosco English Hub
to be a Literacy Specialist and to use her experience to support other schools.

I'd like to thank you on behalf of all at Stanley Road for the support that you have given us

with Early Reading and phonics. We had Ofsted in last week

and they were very complimentary about it.

Lorraine Adams, Headteacher, Stanley Road Primary School, Worcester

I am SO proud of all that our team has achieved! Your support and guidance have been

outstanding,  We have all learned so much from this process and your support and I

would like to say the biggest THANK YOU to you and to your fabulous team.

Joanne Harvey, Headteacher, St Anne's Primary School, Bewdley

Since being supported by the English Hubs, we have undoubtedly overturned our

Phonics provision at Villiers Primary. We were designated Mel as our Literacy Specialist,

which we were incredibly pleased about. Before our intensive support, we followed the

Letters and Sounds programme and carried out practical lessons, where in hindsight the

fundamentals of reading were not prioritised. Shortly after being accepted by the Hub we

were encouraged to adopt a new scheme and we chose to implement Little Wandle.

We were closely guided through every step of implementation: helping train our staff,

mapping out planning and coaching sessions and analysing assessments effectively.

We are so grateful for the kindness, knowledge and commitment that Mel and the Hub

have offered us over the last year.

S A Potts, Headteacher, Villiers Primary School, Bilston

Update: The Reading Leader has been working as a Literacy Specialist with the hub for

a couple of years and is using her knowledge and experience to support other schools

in a similar position. Villiers are now a Champion Little Wandle School!

The English Hub has been a great supportive tool in transforming the attitudes towards

reading in schoolof both staff and children. Participating in the TSRC project breathed

new life into our approach to reading for pleasure and has helped to raise the profile across

the school. The CPD sessions for myself as Reading Lead have enabled me to upskill

personally before imparting new learning to all staff. The offer of support is also bespoke

to different areas of school including the Early Years so really does cover all bases and

ensures all children can benefit. Additional Phonics CPD has been available, equipping

staff with the knowledge and understanding to give the best for our children.'

Mrs N Bennett, Northfield Road Primary School

I have found the support from St John Bosco English Hub invaluable.  The in-house

support to implement our new phonics programme has given our staff the skills, expertise

and confidence to deliver the programme to a high standard resulting in our best results yet.

As well as this we have been involved in a range of CPD offered to all staff which we have

actively engaged in.  We have found all the CPD on offer to be high quality, informative

and engaging which again has helped our school to move forward in areas such as: language

development and reading for pleasure.
